Top   General options
  Disconnect after uploading files
If this is ticked and you are using a dial-up connection to access your website, the connection will hang-up when you have finished transfering files.

If this is unticked then the connection will remain open.

This setting is irrelevant if you connect via TCP/IP.

  Passive transfers (PASV)
If this is ticked then the website that you are connecting to will determine which port to use for file transfers.

If this is unticked then the website must accept your choice of port for file transfers.

Some hosts will only accept passive transfers, others only active transfers. There is no way to tell ahead of time what type a server expects, so if transfers fail then try switching this setting.

Only display known FTP server responses
If this is ticked then only basic messages from the server will be displayed as the files are transfered.

If this is unticked then every message from the server will be displayed.

Viewing all the server messages is useful if you're having problems getting a connection with the server, but they look confusing to users and so once the account is set up correctly you can limit it to just the plain English phrases.

Top   Filename adjustment options
  Leave filenames as they are
This will transfer your files without chaging the names.

  Convert filenames to lower-case
This will change all your file names to small letters once they are on the website.

  Convert filenames to upper-case
This will change all your file names to capital letters once they are on the website.

Note Unlike Windows, filenames on your website are case-sensitive, and so allowing the transfer procedure to change all the names to lower-case or upper-case is often a good idea.

Top   Data transfer options
  Send files as Binary files
This will send any kind of file to your website.

  Send files as ASCII files
This can only be used if you are only sending text files to your website.
